Naaia signs the European Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content

We are proud to announce that Naaia has officially signed the Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content, published under the auspices of the European Commission’s AI Office. This initiative aims to support the implementation of the transparency obligations set out in the AI Act and to promote the responsible and trustworthy adoption of artificial intelligence across Europe.

This commitment is fully aligned with Naaia’s mission: helping organizations scale their AI initiatives while ensuring effective risk management, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder trust.

What is the Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content?

The Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content is a voluntary framework designed to support stakeholders across the AI ecosystem in implementing the transparency requirements set out in Article 50 of the AI Act. It provides practical guidance for both providers and deployers of generative AI systems, helping make AI-generated or AI-manipulated content more easily identifiable.

The initiative pursues two key objectives:

  • Strengthening trust in the digital ecosystem;
  • Enabling citizens, organizations, and public authorities to better understand the origin of the content they are exposed to.

Concrete measures to strengthen transparency

The Code covers several key areas related to the transparency of AI-generated content.

1. Identifying AI-generated or AI-manipulated content

The Code encourages the implementation of technical mechanisms to indicate when content has been generated or modified using AI. These include the use of metadata, digital watermarks, and other technical measures designed to facilitate the identification and detection of synthetic content.

2. Facilitating content detection and verification

The Code also recommends providing tools and solutions that enable users to verify whether content has been generated or manipulated by an AI system. These mechanisms are intended to support transparency and contribute to efforts to combat disinformation and deceptive uses of generative AI technologies.

3. Making information accessible to the public

For certain categories of content, particularly deepfakes and specific AI-generated content made available to the public, the Code sets out recommendations for clear and easily identifiable disclosure. The objective is to ensure that users can understand the artificial origin of the content from their very first exposure.

An important step towards a more transparent AI ecosystem

As the use of generative AI continues to expand rapidly across industries, the ability to distinguish authentic content from content generated or manipulated by AI has become a critical issue for trust, governance, and compliance. The Code of Practice helps establish a common framework to address these challenges and support the objectives of the AI Act.

By joining this initiative, Naaia reaffirms its commitment to responsible, transparent, and well-governed AI, fostering innovation that is both sustainable and trustworthy.

Our mission: helping organizations achieve AI Act compliance

Transparency obligations are only one part of the new requirements introduced by the AI Act. AI governance, risk management, documentation, compliance controls, and oversight of AI use are becoming increasingly strategic priorities for organizations.

Through its AI governance platform, Naaia helps organizations centralize their AI systems, assess risks, implement the necessary controls, and demonstrate compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and internal policies.
